Rescue stenting after artery occlusion as a complication of an intrasaccular device–assisted coiling embolization: illustrative case

چکیده
BACKGROUND Endovascular embolization of wide-necked aneurysms can be challenging. The development intrasaccular devices like the Contour has enabled us to approach these effectively by reducing recanalization rates and eliminating need for dual antiplatelet therapy, which is particularly beneficial in case ruptured aneurysms. Although complications from using are rare, it crucial address them properly. In this case, authors highlight how manage artery thrombosis caused device protrusion during aneurysm embolization. OBSERVATIONS This report describes a complication male patient with anterior communicating aneurysm. Following Contour-assisted coiling aneurysm, realignment detachable apex occluded A2 segment right cerebral artery. After failure intra-arterial intravenous tirofiban infusion as well mechanical thrombectomy, self-expanding open-cell stent was deployed involved vessel, achieving successful reperfusion. LESSONS zone that cause occlusion parent vessel after deployment. use rescue maneuver may useful if reperfusion cannot achieved through other methods such aspiration or full-dose therapy.

Stenting as a Rescue Treatment After Failure of Mechanical Thrombectomy for Anterior Circulation Large Artery Occlusion.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE We hypothesized that permanent stenting may be a rescue treatment for stentriever-failed anterior circulation large artery occlusion. We compared the outcomes among patients with permanent stenting and those without stenting after stentriever failure. METHODS We retrospectively evaluated 208 patients who underwent stentriever thrombectomy for anterior circulation large ...
متن کاملLateral abdominal wall hematoma as a rare complication after carotid artery stenting: a case report
Abdominal wall hematoma is a rare and life-threatening complication after carotid artery stenting (CAS), but it can occur when activated clotting time is prolonged. We report a right lateral abdominal wall hematoma caused by rupture of the superficial circumflex iliac artery after CAS in a 72-year-old man with severe stenosis of the origin of the right internal carotid artery. We performed CAS ...
متن کاملRetinal artery embolization after carotid artery stenting: report of a case and review of literature
Background: Retinal artery occlusion is an uncommon but serious complication during carotid artery stenting (CAS) for carotid artery stenosis, which induces the visual defect in patients. Case presentation: A 74-yearold man was admitted to our hospital because of intermittent dizziness and limb weakness in the past one month. Cerebral angiography revealed 86% stenosis on the start of the right ...
متن کاملMultiple Systemic Infarctions as a Complication of Bronchial Artery Embolization With Polyvinyl Alcohol: A Case Report
UNLABELLED Bronchial artery embolization (BAE) is a widely used modality of treatment for massive hemoptysis which has well known complications such as chest pain, groin hematoma and transverse myelitis but systemic embolization of the material used in the procedure is very rare and was reported only four times in the literature which were all caused by the use of microspheres. Herein we report...
متن کاملBranch retinal artery occlusion following carotid stenting: A case report.
A 70 year old male was diagnosed with carotid stenosis and underwent carotid artery stenting (CAS). Severe postoperative complications arose subsequent to the procedure, including decreased visual acuity and symptoms of a visual field defect, and the patient was eventually diagnosed with retinal artery embolism. CAS reduces carotid plaque; however, the subsequent shedding of carotid plaque may ...
